I've had a few times where I get lag when I'm moving near cap points - but only when there are also at least 2 other players around.
A few times I've had specific players against whom I get noticeable lag spikes when I'm near that person, but not to the point that it's causing problems.
It's PROBABLY a compatibility or NAT issue. For some reason, your system can't communicate directly with that player, and when the game allows certain data to be transmitted directly between players and only verified server-side instead of being totally done via client-server-client transfers, having to rely on that can make a particular player look like they're lagging badly even if both your connections are great.
NAT type is the easiest possible cause you can look for, just check your PS3/s network settings. If it lists the NAT as "type 3" you should look up how to improve it. Type 1 is ideal, but not always an option. Type 2 is fine for most situations, but you might still notice lag spikes at times. |

A few times I've had specific players against whom I get noticeable lag spikes when I'm near that person, but not to the point that it's causing problems. The lag from team mates getting to close and bumping eachother is an internal issue nothing from other players. It gets quite annoying sometimes when trying to move in force through small areas. I hope they can work this out before launch , which i'm sure they wil
I'm not talking about bumping into other players, I know that's a completely separate issue.
But when there are 2 - 3 other players spread out near an objective - NOT all piled onto one another - and I'm moving within 2m of the objective - but AT LEAST 3m from any other players, not bumping into someone - there's almost always a weird laggy moment where I zip forward through the objective at about double my normal sprinting speed (I'm usually in an Assault Suit, but even for a speed-buffed Scout, it's unreasonably fast), then teleport backwards to where I SHOULD be. Sometimes I get glitched into a state where I can only move in a horizontal plane, and I float above the ground, but I'm stuck in the sprinting animation and can't shoot. When that happens, I don't have any way to fix it except moving somewhere that brings ground level higher than the plane the game allows me to move along, at which point I "bounce" back into normal movement and take fall damage when I hit the ground. More often I just speed forwards for a moment then get teleported back, as I mentioned before, during which laggy period, I've died a couple of times to people who I think were aiming at where I HAD been, not where I was seeing myself.
The other issue I described (cut the rest of my post) is when I'm within about 15 - 20m of a specific player, sometimes I'll have a noticeable - not game-breaking - lag spike, which lasts until either we move further apart or one of us is dead. Respawn near that player, or they spawn next to me, and the lag comes back. NOT only when we're right on top of one another and clipping through each other's models, just being in the general vicinity of a certain person can cause it. |
